Last month, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Stefano Corbella, Sustainability Officer at COIMA, a Milan based real estate firm. He recently created Real Estate Sustainability Forum as a platform to share knowledge on sustainability in real estate.
He asked me three questions as a way to introduce the concept of social value. What is social value? Why is it important for the real estate industry? What are the main challenges for social value creation in the industry?
The concept of social value is nothing new. However, as society changes, the significance and the relevance of the concept evolve. In the context of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), increasing awareness of social issues, such as wellbeing and equity, and the Covid-19 pandemic, it is a concept that is worth revisiting and discussing across sectors, industries and geographies.
